Geology | Data Archives & Centers, Reference Information
Distributed Active Archive Centers (DAACs)
The Distributed Active Archive Centers (DAACs) have been selected by NASA to process, archive and distribute Earth Observing System (EOS) and related data. They also provide a full range of support to global change researchers.
Marine Geology Data: World Data Center for Geophysics & Marine Geology
NGDC archives hundreds of digital data files and analog data sets (paper, film, etc.) containing descriptions and analyses of marine and lacustrine sediment and rocks from the sea floor. Data are compiled from U.S. institutions and from international sources through exchange mechanisms including the World Data Center system.
Marine Seismic Data Center
System to promote wide dissemination and easy access to marine seismic data. The main components are a Field Data Center at Lamont-Doherty Geological Observatory and a Processed Data Center at the University of Texas
Minerology Database
Individual mineral species descriptions, a comprehensive image library, crystallography, crystal structures, X-Ray powder diffraction, chemical composition, physical and optical properties, and classifications.
National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC)
NOAA data products and services for geophysical data from the Sun to the Earth, Earth's sea floor, and solid earth environment. Also including Earth observations from space.
National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC)
The National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) in Boulder Colorado offers more than 500 data products to researchers, commercial applications users, and others worldwide.
National Technical Information Service (NTIS)
The National Technical Information Service (NTIS) is the largest central resource for government-funded scientific, technical, engineering, and business related information. NTIS provides businesses, universities, and the public with access to approximately 3 million publications covering over 350 subject areas. The National Technical Information Service (NTIS) is part of the US Department of Commerce.
PANGAEA
Publishing network and search tool for geoscientific and environmental data.
United States Geological Survey (USGS) Mineral Data & Statistics
Statistics and information on the worldwide supply of, demand for, and flow of minerals and materials essential to the U.S. economy, the national security, and protection of the environment
USGS | Maps, Imagery, and Publications
Providing maps, aerial and satellite imagery, publications, and data from the U.S. Geological Survey.
USGS Photographic Library
This site is designed to provide free viewing and downloading of the entire U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) photographic collection
Warehouse Inventory Search Tool (WIST)
A client for searching and ordering earth science data from various NASA, international, and affiliated centers
