The largest student organized conference in the world is set to meet this month in beautiful Boulder Colorado! SpaceVision 2011 is the annual conference and gathering for the student organization the Students for the Exploration & Development of Space (SEDS).
SEDS was founded in 1980 at MIT and Princeton and consists of high school, undergraduate, and graduate students from chapters throughout the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America.
Over the years SEDS has grown to be a major presence among students throughout the country and has earned the respect and sponsorship of organizations like NASA. SEDS has sent students to meet with government officials about the space industry, has given students the opportunity to fly with experiments on zero-g flights, and has built robots and hardware that lead the pack among student projects. SEDS chapters are also major sponsors of the annual Yuri’s Night World Space Party.
SEDS SpaceVision 2011 Conference
Orchestrated by the Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) as the SEDS-USA annual conference, SpaceVision is dedicated to facilitating networking between college students, professionals, and the public, furthering the development of the National Committee (SEDS-USA), and sharing ideas through interactive lectures and workshops.
SpaceVision 2011 is expected to attract 300-500 students and professionals from across the country and around the world. With an opening keynote by Bill Nye, an impressive array of speakers, numerous astronauts, and hardware including rocket and lunar robot projects, SpaceVision is sure to be a fantastic opportunity and a great time for all the attendees.
Emerging Space Industry Leaders (ESIL) Workshop
Coinciding with the SpaceVision Conference will be the two-day Emerging Space Industry Leaders (ESIL) Workshop. ESIL is an intensive 2-day workshop that will bring together emerging leaders in the space industry.
Boulder, SEDS, and the NewSpace Industry
This conference is a great opportunity for students and the location couldn’t be more relevant. Boulder and the Colorado Front Range are emerging as main hub for the emerging new space industry. Further, SEDS itself is a fantastic representation of the passion present in the next generation of space leaders.
